Well Oiled Machine
iPad too Pricey? Why not a Kindle, or a Nook!

Now that the iPad has established it is the alpha dog in the market,  Amazon has slashed the price of its Kindle to $189 from $259, and Barnes & Noble’s Wi-Fi-only version of the Nook will retail for $149. Those are prices that are almost to good to pass up.

With the arrival of iOS 4, which brings Apple’s iBooks app to millions of devices, e-readers are also getting a new competitor: the iPhone. Although the iPhone lacks the larger screen and more book-friendly interface of the iPad, the barrier to entry is now ridiculously low, since all a current iPhone user has to do is download the free iBooks app and start browsing for titles with no extra hardware required.

This drop in price has everything to do with, in my opinion, the dominance of the iPad in its early release. However if you are purely using these devices to “read” with then I just don’t think you can shy away from these prices.

Would you get a Kindle or a Nook at those prices? I think I would! Remember we have all the accessories you could ever want for your E-reader or any other electronic device!

Check out our spoof of the new Tiger Woods Nike Commercial!!! See we do more than just sell Printer Ink!

Wax on Wax off…..

I am becoming an online shopping master, just like Mr. Miyagi…..I am the Mr. Miyagi of online shopping!!! Well I may be exaggerating again, but I am getting pretty good. I’m sure your saying “wow boy genius you can turn a computer on and click your mouse” and while for me that is a great accomplishment, being a good online shopper is much more than that!

To be a good online consumer you need to know what your going to be buying ahead of time. Let’s just use Abacus24-7.com as an example ;). We sell everything the tech junkie could want from HDMI cables to video game controllers, but we also sell Printer ink.  Printer Ink is the perfect example of how you can become an online shopping sensei just like me.

Lets break this down.

We all use printer ink, some more than others, but the bottom line is you need to figure out your personal usage patterns and you can save a bundle. Here’s how.

Let’s say you are like most people and when you run out of ink you just hop in the your ride and head down to the closest big box store. That’s mistake number one! For example let’s say you went to Walmart….mistake number two!

Again, just for arguments sake, let’s say you have an HP printer and need black number 56 ink. At Walmart that is going to run you a cool $23.97. You may be thinking, “that’s not so bad” WRONG! (We will get to why you’re so wrong in a minute) What if you need a color ink also, the HP 57? Well that is going to run you $39.97! So now you ran to the Walmart and left $63.94 in the hole. If you print often that is a killer.

Lets continue our little experiment.

Maybe you hate the Walmart, and your a Best Buy kind of person. Mistake number 3! OK so your in the Best Buy and you have finished looking at the giant TV’s you wish you could buy, and now your serious about getting the ink you came for. While the prices at Best Buy are almost exactly the same for the individual inks, give or take a few cents, they do offer a combo pack with one Black HP 56 ink and one Multi color HP 57 ink. Jump for joy right? WRONG!! Buying this combo will save you a few bucks over Walmart because the combo is only going to cost you $57.99, yipeeeeee That is like 5 whole bucks cheaper than Walmart! Your excited aren’t you? Mistake number 4!

OK so let me tell you what Mr. online Miyagi would do. I would plan ahead, check my inks and know when I am getting low. Then I would go to Abacus24-7.com and pick up a combo pack of HP 56 and HP 57 inks for……wait for it……$25.99!! Holy cow, that is a savings of $32 bones over Best Buy! If you did this a few times a year you are talking about some serious savings. If your worrying about shipping just hit up your friendly Online guru for a free shipping code,  Wax on wax off…..

That my young pupils is why they call me the online sensei, AKA Mr. Miyagi!
